The Terroir of Ica: Discover Why Our Heritage Wines Are Unique in the World

The Ica Valley is the historical cradle of wine and Pisco in Peru, and our terroir is a true agricultural miracle. Against all odds, the desert climate and alluvial soils give our grapes a concentration, character, and aroma found nowhere else.

In the Pampas of Ica, we have mastered this environment to cultivate ancestral grape varieties (the so-called heritage grapes) adapted over generations. This is an immersion into the heart of our tradition and the geographical secrets that make our Heritage White and our Quebranta Pisco so exceptional.

The Desert Challenge: Unique Climate and Soils

Viticulture in Ica is an exercise in resilience and precision.

Sun, Heat and Large Temperature Range

The intense solar radiation and the lack of rain concentrated flavors and sugars in the grapes. What is critical, however, is the great thermal amplitude (temperature difference between the hot day and cold night). This breadth allows the grapes to develop the acidity needed to balance the sweetness, resulting in wines fresh and complex.

Alluvial soils and Irrigation Strategic

Our soils, rich in alluvial sediments (deposited by the river Ica), offer a perfect drainage and a minerality subtle. The irrigation controlled and strategic ensures that the vines receive only what is needed, forcing the grapes to deepen their roots and capture the unique character of the land.

The Strains Ancestral Pampas de Ica

In the Pampas of Ica, we are proud to work with varieties that have defined the wine history of the region.

The Resilience of the Breaks

This is the grape is not aromatic par excellence for the production of Pisco, and the base of many of our wines. Heat resistance of Ica and its robust character make it fundamental for the Piscos that need power and roundness.

The Fragrance of the Albilla and Torontel

We use these strains aromatic in our White Heritage. The Albilla and the Torontel bring floral notes, citrus, pineapple, and peach that are preserved thanks to the freshness of the ica night.

The terroir of Ica is a gift that Pampas Ica you agree to honor. Each bottle, from the Malbec Parenting until the White Heritage, is a faithful expression of this single floor and the Tradition that we have kept for generations.
